About Drake Young Guns

When we decided to enter the Youth market, we made a commitment to do more than just add junior-sized clothing to our apparel line. The goal was to create an interactive multimedia program aimed at motivating young waterfowl hunters, educating them about the sport, and keeping them entertained along the way. The result is the Drake Young Guns Hunt Club^™ program.

Young Guns Hunt Club^™ is an Internet-based tool where kids can interact with other kids their age to learn the basics of waterfowl hunting, shooting and safety tips, calling instructions, and even swap hunting photos and stories with each other. The educational content will be led by Drake’s national youth pro staff, Team Young Guns^™, which enlists names like Greg Hubbell, Jr. and Shelby Free. Greg, age 13, is the current Junior World Duck Calling Champion and one of the most decorated contest callers in a variety of species encompassing not only waterfowl, but also turkey and elk. Shelby, age 16, is the current Women’s World Duck Calling Champion. Shelby is a two-time winner of that competition, winning the title for the first time in 2006, and she previously won the Junior Women’s World Duck Calling contest. Greg and Shelby will be joined by other young ambassadors of the sport to lead the charge in educating other young hunters through the Young Guns program. The Drake Waterfowl Elite Team will also be a primary source of written and video content featuring well-known industry veterans like Tim Grounds, Hunter Grounds, Barnie Calef, and Eli, Kelly and Rod Haydel.

The Young Guns website, www.drakeyoungguns.com, is also packed with games, hunting stories, and tips to help kids get more involved with hunting. But the content is not just for kids – the user-friendly site is designed for parents or older siblings to get involved and make it a family experience.

There will also be various Young Guns events held at retail stores and outdoor shows around the country. These Young Guns events will give kids and their families hands-on opportunities to learn about the outdoors and share in hunting activities together.
